Atravessamentos Multicuturalista: de casa para a sala de aula

Abstract

This article provides an analysis of the author's career and her involvement with education, art, and dance, connecting information from her experiences with multiculturalism and pointing out some theoretical references that discuss this issue in the school environment and with regard to the legislation that altered the LDBEN - Law 10.639/03, which establishes the compulsory teaching of Afro-Brazilian, African, and indigenous history and cultures in basic education. However, during the course of the research, the author was diagnosed with burnout, which led to changes in the research process given the difficulty in structuring reasoning, understanding and developing texts. In this way, she recalls stories she has experienced in the school environment, which are connected to multiculturalism and the various situations that a teacher goes through in the classroom, structuring her experience as an arts teacher at a public school. When we understand that school should be a space for everyone, but unfortunately we see many forms of violence, such as sexism and racial prejudice, it becomes necessary to follow a path that has respect as its foundation. This is how we learn about the journey of discovery of a black woman, feminist, teacher, and artist who had to slow down and respect the limits of her body. It presents some of the audiovisual references that helped in this identification process, such as Emicida (2020) directed by Fred Ouro Preto, Sankofa (2020) directed by Rozane Braga. It also provides bibliographical references such as Scott (1990), Nicholson (1994), Freire (2019), Hooks (2017), Candau (2010), Pompino (2018), Sampaio (2015) and Strazzacappa (2001).
