Entrega voluntária para adoção na cidade de Manaus: reflexões sobre as vivencias no projeto “Acolhendo Vidas”

Abstract

The voluntary surrender of children for adoption was officially regulated in 2017, with the enactment of Law 13,509, which amends the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (Law 8,069/1990) and provides for the voluntary surrender, removal of family power, fostering, sponsorship, custody and adoption of children and adolescents. The guarantee of the rights of women who decide to voluntarily surrender challenges the socio-historical construction of motherhood and encourages new debates for the effectiveness of humanized policies aimed at these mothers, as well as the children who will later be qualified in the National Adoption System (SNA). In the state of Amazonas, the Court of Justice has been developing since 2013 the Welcoming Lives Project, which aims to promote and monitor pregnant women who attempt to give up their children for adoption. The project is configured as an alternative to avoid cases of abandonment and irregular adoptions. In this sense, this research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the guarantee of rights to pregnant and postpartum women participating in the "welcoming lives" project who wish to give up their children for adoption in the city of Manaus. The research will be carried out from a qualitative approach through interviews that will be carried out with the women participating in the "welcoming lives" project, as well as the technical team of professionals responsible for their care. The techniques and analyses of the interviews with the women will be guided by oral history and a focus group will be held with the professionals. From the results, it seeks to weave reflections on the performance of the social assistance network to guarantee the rights of women and children, as well as to encourage new studies on this theme that is invisible in the academic environment.
