Prosopografia dos deputados da Assembleia Legislativa Provincial do Amazonas (1852-1889)

Abstract

This work aimed to collectively analyze the biographies of those deputies of the Provincial Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (1852-1889) who had the most legislatures and held leadership positions within the organizational structure of the institution, such as president and vice-president. Using the Annals of the Provincial Legislative Assembly of Amazonas, the book 'Amazonian Dictionary of Biographies: Figures from the Past', period newspapers, judicial proceedings, among other historical sources for analysis, this study utilized prosopography as a research method to identify the general characteristics that unite and those that individualize the members of the group of provincial deputies, but not only, by using these characteristics to draw considerations about the required social properties and their devaluation over time, the strategies to achieve success in a career or avoid declines, as well as to seek to relate the social profile of the group to their decision-making, that is, to think about to what extent the social profile of this group could be connected to their decision-making in relation to certain debates throughout the period they held seats in the Provincial Legislative Assembly of Amazonas.
