Adolescentes na socioeducação: práticas e concepções em um centro socioeducativo de Manaus-AM

Abstract

The enactment of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent has enabled great advances in the realization of rights for children and youth. Starting with the National System of Correctional Education, which made possible the direction of guidelines and principles for the assistance of adolescents in fulfillment of Educational Correctional Measures. Despite this, there is still a long way to go before these rights are effectively made viable. This scenario of unprotected children and teenagers is even more alarming when it comes to adolescents who commit infractional acts. The very definition of an adolescent does not find a consensus, what is noticed is a mistaken conception and understanding about the nuances of the socio-educational context and, sometimes, they are labeled in a discriminatory and excluding way. In view of the current scenario of rights violations experienced by these young people, this research meant to give continuity to a study already carried out in a Socio-educational Center in Manaus, and assumed the following proposal: to investigate the practices and conceptions of adolescents who have committed infringement based on Field Diaries, Interviews, and the Individual Education Plan (IAP). The data were analyzed through semi-structured interviews with 7 adolescents, 6 Individual Service Plans (IAPs), and 47 Field Diaries prepared during the immersion in the research field. For the analysis of the results, the Constructive-Interpretative Methodology was used, based on the assumptions of Qualitative Epistemology. The research contributed to the visualization about the psychosocial panorama of the socio-educational service in the country, narrowing the results to the North Region. It was concluded that the practices with adolescents in situations of deprivation of liberty follow paths between the search for guaranteed assistance and protection, as well as for discipline, control and punishment. The conceptions about young people conceive them as violent and subversive subjects, besides presenting a naturalizing view of adolescence that directly impacted on the actions carried out and on the subjectivity of young people as people in development.
